The October meeting of the Grindstone Knitters Guild is on October 18. We meet on the 3rd Tuesday of the month at 7:00 p.m.
The program for October is How to Make an I-cord edging presented by Donna S.
We welcome new members interested in knitting and friendship and look forward to meeting you.
The Grindstone knitters have plenty of distractions while working on our knitted items for the upcoming Berea Arts Fest in September.
For our June program, Lora showed us how to make felted balls to add as decorations to our knitted projects.
We received a thank you card from Louise and her cats for our ‘thank you’ to Louise for being so generous to us with her time and effort.
More ‘Knitted Knockers’ were turned in for our 2016 charity project.
We have donated 110 pairs of knitted knockers so far !!!!
Here are some gorgeous finished items from Kathy, Beverly and Vicki.
Marilyn donated hats and scarves for Church Street Ministries charity. Thank you Marilyn for you generosity!
Our guild members showed off some beautiful pieces at show and tell at the May Guild meetings. Here are some of our finished items:
Those who participated in the Guild Mystery knit-along brought their finished item to April’s meeting and had their names entered into a drawing for a prize. It wasn’t until the item was fully constructed that we found we had knitted a darling ‘Woodstock’. Show and tell brought out some beautiful knits too.
Quite a few members have finished or are still working on what we call a Crazy Shawl. They are made from Crazies Yarn which is soft and warm and wildly colorful. No 2 shawls come out the same because the yarn skeins are all random with random lengths of color.

KUDOS and many thanks to River Colors Studio Yarn store in Lakewood, Ohio.
On the first Friday of August, River Colors Studio Yarn store generously offered a free skein of Cascade Pima Cotton yarn to anyone willing to knit ‘Knitted Knockers’ for breast cancer patients. While I was there, at least one dozen skeins were handed out. One skein can make about 5 ‘knockers’.
Please join us in our goal to fill a chest with Knitted Knockers. We will continue to meet on the first Friday of every month from 11:00 to 1:00 at River Colors Studio, 387 Sloane Avenue, Lakewood, Ohio 44107 and knit ‘Knitted Knockers’.
These will be donated to University Hospitals (UH) Seidman Cancer Center who is very excited about this program and looks forward to handing them out for free to their breast cancer patients.
Completed ‘knockers’ can be dropped off at the Mahler Museum on the 3rd Tuesday of every month from 7:00 – 9:00 pm or at River Colors on the first Friday of every month from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.
